The History of the Potemkin Village

In Blazing Saddles, Cleveland Little comes up with a genius plan to build a fake Rock Ridge for when the bad guys come in and then they'll blow it up. Potemkin village is now like a whole term for any kind of fake facade that's used generally as some sort of propaganda. In the 1700s, there was a Russian military leader named Grigory Potemkin because he's Russian. You'll see a lot of that anymore.
