George Lucas's Mistakes in the Prequels
The prequels are trying to say, how do we go from a democratic system to a tyranny? And he was trying to keep it so realistic and manipulate it so carefully that it wasn't interesting. Like, I think he just went, he studied Mussolini, he studied Hitler, and he said, I'm basically going to do the same thing, but I'll just put the emperor in their place. And it kind of felt fake. But in another sense, I think the systems are so different, and the people are so different... you can't keep it too close to the way history has been or the way politics currently is without losing something.
