The whiteness of these people plays a significant part in their status. It's not just because they have wealth that they command capital, that they procure capital but it is their whiteness that plays a very important part in their being elevated there. Even in Marx, we see these strange apologetic remarks for colonialism to say or where Marx says that colonialism is a necessary evil.
