The Creation Myth of Fred and Verna

Fred and Verna were two recently bereaved adults with four little kids between them. Fred: "I was still sort of stunned" when they said, why don't you two get together or something to that effect? He says he thought it was a terrible idea because he didn't want to date other people. But then I did date Gayle after that. That resulted in a little love triangle with Jean's old friend, Candy Hinman, as a go-between.
