The Importance of Impartiality in Democracy
I think the BBC Charter actually says when it comes to democracy, you don't have to be impartial. You know, we believe as journalists in upholding the democratic rights of the country. I remember retweeting something that he was saying about, you know, this would be anti-democratic for the country. And getting called up, told off and pulled aside. It was a really sort of seminal, maybe that's too strong, but kind of awakening. We got caught in that because everything about our job was saying, no, your job is to call out these things which are being trashed or broken by people who weren't afraid to trash them.
