Axe had a further significance that came from where they were found, who you got them from. Hundreds of axes in Britain appear to have been buried or thrown into rivers. This axe was designed to make a mark not on the landscape, but in society. Its survival suggests people 6,000 years ago found it just as beautiful as we do today.
