Is Mystic Initiation a Form of Mysticism?

The traditional form of wisdom in Greece before philosophy is surely a mystic initiation. In India it's the Vedic sacrifice which allows you to go up to heaven to prepare your place there and come down again. The initiates identified with each other but they also identify with the heavenly bodies so there's a unity not only among the initiates but also between the initiates and the cosmos.
