The SEC's Failure to Register Cryptocurrencies
Robin Hood's chief compliance officer Dan Gallagher also served as an SEC commissioner. He told Congress that Robin Hood had attempted to come in and register their crypto products, but staff were unable to guide the firm through the process. Now elsewhere in the industry, some companies are ramping up for continued legal challenge. Although Circle has not yet attracted the gaze of the SEC, the firm is definitely pulling in reinforcements. The stablecoin issuer announced the hire of former CFTC chairman Heath Tarbert as chief legal officer.
