The Legacy of Father Breda
In 1940, Germany invaded Belgium. The library that had been keeping the Husserl knocklass was reduced to ashes. Father von Breda distributed the works of Husserl and a few other Jewish scholars in order to improve the chances of at least some of the valuable work surviving. Miraculously, every page survived and was reunited to one collection after the war.
