With the YouTube videos that we edit, we have the luxury of analytics. We post a video, it gathers all the data and we get to see what worked, what didn't. Most of the really big A-list blockbuster trailers are cut together based on data. But if your intuition is completely against the data, I would choose intuition before the data.
