Is the East a Periphery of Feminism in Eastern Europe?
There's this assumption that eastern europeans were lagging behind and had to catch up because we missed out on the second wave of feminism. But in fact, as eastern european sociologists kept repeating, women in eastern europe were fully employed in the fties and sixties. The chronology of twentieth century women across europe is really not the same. It took some time to theorize it or even theorize about emancipation in easterneurope. And it's a younger generation who are dealing with that now.
