The Importance of Optionality in the Future
We're not so much greedy as people neurochemically want more security and our brains are tricked by thinking more money will give us that. We pursue it to have more options in the future because we're uncertain about the future. Marketing is probably the single most deleterious invention of human history. If I were benevolent dictator, I might outlaw advertising. Fossil fuels, we have to get off fossil fuels. The correct name is fossil carbon and hydrocarbon or flammable fossils.
