The balance sheet is broken down into assets, liabilities, and equity. In the US for GAAP, they're in order by liquidity typically. So first you have cash and due from banks. That's the first line item on the balance sheet. The other asset is deposits with banks. JP Morgan Chase has $539 billion sitting in deposits with banks - that's how things balance out.
