In the cold war, sacrifice meant billions of dollars to rebuild europe in order to stand against soviet expansionism. In today's context, i think some of the sacrifices would probably be similar. The idea that the united states simply can't spend a dollar more than three point two % of g t p on defense is going to have to go by the wayside if the united states is going to be effective in this competition.
