What Has American Law Learned From the Talmud?
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach: What has american law, if anything, learned from the talmud? He says it's through those discussions that you are able to uncover and discover some of the philosophical tenets that hold the whole system together. In 19 82, robert cover wrote an article called nomos an narrative which became one of the most important articles in harvard larview history. For law to be legitimate in a deep sense, it has to have the byin or buying is not always to the particular rule, but to the story about the law, the lawgiver and the culture in society that produces that law.
