He was a very important translator and also a notorious one. Some of his translations verge on pranks because he was known for changing details almost willy-nilly. He basically introduced Franz Kafka to the Spanish-speaking world via translation. The range of books that he writes reviews about is insane. I mean, all the normal things you would think of like Joyce and Kafka but then just like these really obscure science fiction novels and mystery novels in multiple languages.
