The Unintended Consequences of Luck
I think we have to be really much more cognizant about the importance of unintended consequences. Henry Ford wasn't intending to create new tasks for workers, but he actually created a whole new way of organizing factories based on electrical machinery. Tim Berger's Lee and other pioneers of the internet did not do it in order to damage democracy with misinformation. But that was one of its unintended consequences. And luck or critical junctures or exactly how different visions shape a given technology or technology platform is being used are critically important.
