Early Christians Frequently Refer to Christ as God

Since Jesus Christ was the Redeemer and Savior, early Christians readily addressed him as God. This unreserved way of speaking about God did at times lead to issues that would require greater theological reflection. Most early Christians were more likely to fall into a docetic Christology rather than minimize the divinity of the Savior. But what exactly do Christians mean when they said Christ is God?
