i see so many great individual engineers and engineering leaders that are doing great work, but do not have the ability to get the realization of what's the impact of what they're doing. I think a lot of times we confuse mark capitalization with how good their products are. And i would even say that too, to engineering culturist as well. It you look at the diretina engineering culture, wen a guga and an amazon, and they couldn't be further away from each other in terms of culture. The relationship between success does not mean great engineering. We should divorce them at very large scales in our industry.
In an episode dedicated to what we think the next generation of engineering leaders should avoid, Jason and Eiso talk about the books every engineering leader reads, the over-glorification of 80’s maniacal leaders, OKRs, and other tech industry things we love to hate.
Come for the roast. Stay for the solutions!
