The Importance of Pets in Animal Welfare

When it comes to whether the state should prevent us from eating meat, I don't go that far. In part because I don't think it would be effective. People aren't ready to make that sort of switch. But moving now to pets instead of chickens and factory farms, I do think animals have a little nature to themselves. Whether having a pet degrades that nature or craps depends on the nature of the animal.
