In Panama, the major families and players are insulated from public scrutiny. The Aristotelian take is that you should only have independently wealthy aristocrats in public office because they can't be bribed. Now you go into the Senate to get rich, see Bernie Sanders,. Joe Biden, and others. It's not actually age that makes them sort of despicable. But it's the combination of years and youth in total inexperience and brain deadness.
