The Importance of Compromise in a Republican Party

I remember watching the presidential debates as a high schooler and not seeing a ton of difference between the two options that were up on the stage. And it made me kind of question who I was going to be supporting or why I would be supporting X, Y and Z person. My foreign policy, immigration, and a few other policies that I have now weren't really formed back then. So it was harder for me to embrace someone like Ron Paul, who was very different in some of those areas than other Republicans.
