1959 was definitely a very Janice-like year. The idea of hip, the idea of stuff that was cool, was just starting to gain a sort of mainstream footing. It was certainly there on the margins of society with the beat-nicks. So what was part of an album kind of blue that was, in a way, a move away and a deliberate attempt to get away from jazz clichés?
