The Theodosian Walls

Theodosian Walls were built in 414 during the reign of young Theodosius II, hence the name. They would repel every attempt to take Constantinople by land for a thousand years. It took the invention of the canon and then the construction of literally the biggest canon ever built by humans to finally break through.
