The Different Types of Open Source Software
Open source software has to come with some kind of license saying how it's allowed to be used by other people. There are two main kinds of licenses: laissez-faire and copy left licences. Copy left licenses say if you modify the software then your modifications must also be covered under the same license. It's a clever way to carry it, says Richard Stalman.
