Our fisherman, matahi, has been up since three a m with him is matatini, from the island of rangiroa. I've never seen a fish caught more efficiently. Immediately they get down to the business of cleaning it and prepping it. It'll feed us for days. Seven days into our journey, we hit the doldrums, the deadening calm that you find often at the equator. The wind and water are completely still. We are powerless.
