The Importance of Phonemic Inventory in African Languages
A lot of African languages have that distinction and it's seven-level system, yeah. And so they just sort of came upon just using those symbols because it's easier to do. You can add diocritics to both of them if you need tone. So my guess is this is another attempt at simplification and it could be easier for people to learn. Yeah. With the, I wish they had more descriptive, phonemic inventory. Just based on where it occurs that wouldn't make much sense for a lot of stuff. Although you could have a language that has a button in your position. Okay. That's what I would presume. We're all those styles. Anyways
