The Importance of Making

Dancers are constantly performing tasks. They're obviously to some extent in the moment, but they're also grappling with all the work that has gone into the past. And there's a weird way in which when the audience is seeing the piece, they're seeing into a world which exceeds what is just on the stage. So the artist becomes the viewer of the thing that they have made. It happens in this intersubjective space because they've done something which others need to make sense of.
