CHAPTER

The Legend of Ibn Batuta

In the early 1800s, German explorer Oret Jaspur-Setson came into possession of a collection of manuscripts in the Middle East. In 1929, selected portions of their Hala were translated and published in English for the first time. A fully translated and annotated version of the entire Rihala was released in 1958. The final volume wasn't completed until 1994. Ibn Batuta is one of the greatest travelers and explorers in recorded history.
