The molten salt thorium breeder reactor only needs to be stored for 300 years, because it doesn't contain longer half-life transuranics produced by the uranium breeder cycle. For a full half century after thorium-fueled molten-soled reactors were built, tested, and proven to work in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the nuclear power industry has built nothing other than water-cooled uranium-fueled reactors. And no progress is possible unless government encourages that progress through progressive policy.
