The Death of the Six Hour Shift

In the 1970s, Kellogg's women worked with a local women's rights group who presented the case that six hour shifts were a sexist ploy meant to subjugate women. The activists had wanted not just comparable hours, but comparable hourly pay. In 1984 when Kellogg's threatened to relocate if workers didn't vote to abandon the six hour shift, they gave in and voted to give it up.
