The Importance of Cancer Awareness
Elaine Schatner is a clinical associate professor of medicine at Wahl Cornell Medical College. She's writing a book about cancer awareness. In the late 1800s Europe was a bit ahead of the US in terms of cancer treatment. Doctors from the United States who then for the most part had minimal education would go to Europe to study science, pathology and surgical techniques. The first hospital exclusively devoted to cancer care opened in 1887.
