Is Aries the God of War?
Aries, we like to think of as god of war. But is it possible to distinguish between the two? I hope you were going to ask that. One of the things that drives my practice is trying to challenge a scholarly and even fantasy convention about how warfare can be divided in the ancient world into two different types. And coming up with a straightforward, clear-cut binary is, I would say, over simple. It's an opposition that's been there from the very early days of scholarship on the ancient Greek religion. So maybe over the course of this interview, I will set out to make a case for Aries as being more than a war god.
