When's the Right Time to Implement a Merge Queue?
At Shopify, we use a Slack bot for communication. We would tell the engineer, hey, we backed out your change. And there wasn't like immediate action the person had to do. In contrast, before we had the merge queue, if someone had broke the build, either there's someone who's confident enough to go ahead and revert their change. There is a very high cost to taking something like this on.
