Is There Anything I Can Learn From the Early Computer Science Papers?

I feel like a lot of times the like younger programmers come and they're like, oh, I have lots of great ideas and they do exactly the same errors as the people who would learning to program 15 years ahead of time. So my question is: Are there any like technical things that are worth looking into? And if you could give some tips about what direction I should use my brain energy on it would be good.
