The Toll of Big Media Jobs on the Media Executives
Gavin Ellis, former editor of the New Zealand Herald asked a rather bleak question in his weekly blog. He wondered about the toll that big media jobs had taken on those who had decided to quit them lately. TVNZ's chief executive Simon Power left at the end of June, and senior producer Sam Robertson also resigned recently. At the Herald, long-serving chief editor Shane Kerry had stepped aside recently to write about the media instead as an editor at large. Marianne Alexander, had a premium content at the Herald's publisher NZME, resigned last month to take a break with her family. And also, in June, the head of news app MediaWorks, Dallas Gurney, left
