The Doppler Effect of an Ambulance
Within our own galaxy, we have all of these pulsars that have incredible timing. These ultra-stable clocks with these gravitational waves are moved slowly towards the Earth and then away from the Earth by these gravitational waves. The signals will arrive early when the pulsars are closer to the Earth and later when they're further away. And so that's the only way that you can measure these gravitational waves right now is by actually turning our whole galaxy into a gravitational wave detector.
