PTSD and Trauma of Perpetuation

PTSD emerged as a diagnosis during the Vietnam war, but it drew very heavily on research conducted on survivors of extreme events. So intense alterations to the diagnosis had to happen because in this new situation, the people being diagnosed were often the perpetrators of the very experiences in question. Martin Boober: There was an overlap in conversation that was about what are the psychological afterlives of people who survive.
