The Importance of Sentimentality in Victorian Art

A lot of Victorian art is very sentimental. Even my beloved author Charles Dickens, you know, I don't want to cast much shade on Charles Dickens. But even his works were they were so effective and so popular in part because of their sentimentality. Right. So, so, that's there. And if we do that too much, again, emotion, I'm not a person who says emotions are bad. But when we do that at the expense of like the hard reality or the wrestling or the unfamiliarity, then we turn something that's true and good into something that's a lie. Maybe. Yeah, maybe, maybe.
