God's Design for the World to Be
The ripple effect of that mother or father's sin goes on for generations and generations and generations. When it says he visits the iniquity of the fathers on the generations to come, it means he set up the world in such a way so that that will happen. It is to turn people's hearts in repentance to him. He does forgive sin for those who are repentant and place their faith in jesus but he is also just.
