Congo - It's Economic Imperialism, Man.
China has this initiative called the Belt and Road Initiative. Just in January 2021, China canceled all of their loans to Congo. I think as a leader of these countries, China literally hands them an authoritarian playbook. It's like, hey, do you need a 5G network? Cool, we'll give you that. But also, we can give you all the monitoring capabilities that an authoritarian would love. We pick and choose our dictators.
