In the React Native context, it's almost always push notifications. At its core, it's server to device or device to device messages. If you kick off a function that could take a while and you don't want the user to sit there spinning and waiting, this is one of the apps. It would pop up and say, hey, your processing's done. Do you want to view the data? Click yes. And then ping, it would then see the data and then take you to that page.
