Backstage is really jumping off point it for that IDP, building that internal developer portal. You can build your own extensions to do pretty much anything, automate anything off the like service catalog interface. People either use it very much as a facade on top of what they're building as a developer platform or their user for inspiration. It's one to one stop shop once you've got your service up and running.
