The Problem With Liberalism

Liberalism is a theory of the self-directed choosing individual. But when we liberals encounter this weird new phenomenon, which is that people have religions, we should not be quick to say there is really robust freedom of religion because freedom is for choosing. And so according to this brand of liberal political theory, there was something anomalous about freedom of religion just as such in so far as people actually meant their religions.
