Manuel Hirst tried to stop it in its tracks, but not that he may be shown in the cinemas he owned. There's a kind of very complicated power struggle going on. Cinema owners wouldn't show the film because they were worried about Hirst retaliating through his newspapers. And I think what the film does so brilliantly is it constantly is balancing our interest in this fictional character and wanting to know him.
