BI 158 Paul Rosenbloom: Cognitive Architectures

Brain Inspired

CHAPTER

Introduction

In the early 1980s, Paul Rosenblum developed one of the earliest and best known cognitive architectures called SOAR. A cognitive architecture is a model of the fixed structures and processes underlying minds. It's been 40 years since then, and Paul is now Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of Southern California. He doesn't work on SOAR anymore, although it is still alive and well in the hands of his old partner, John Laird.
