He's basically contrasting homeric values to christian value. And i think he's just basically asking, how did we get from there to here? Has anybody actually gone and done a history of the transition from that homeric sense ofvalues to christianity? There's something between there, which i guess would be roman - not quite homeric, greek, roman, greek city state or anything like that. Here's my thing: The knightly aristocratic view of value has as their basic assumption a powerful power over others. That is what makes it so attractive in this book.
