The Future of the BBC

The BBC has many more competitors now, clearly. But the ultimate need for an unbiased sort of source of news and discussion is in my mind bigger than ever. I notice with young people they do know when things are really important to them, they can access a good version of the truth on the BBC. And it's harder to do that on the web. The license fee has proven to stand the test of time. It will never be the same as it was in the 60s and 70s with 25 million viewers on a Saturday night for Morgan and Wise. We hope that will remain for a long time.
