Dogs get a very different heart disease from us. They don't get atheros cerosis. They get a dilated cardiomiopathy. So their heart muscles stretch out. And the more a heart muscle stretches, the more it loses the contractile elements t that allow it to strength when it contracts. When you're at rest, 60 % is a perfectly reasonable ejection fraction. Under great stress, meaning when you're under great arobic stress, we would see that number go up.
