secular institutions have taken over from religious sources of co operation to basic do the same thing. Northern europe scanni societies, where majorities are not believers, don't have religious beliefs any more but theyre liveing highly co operative societies. And largely because they have created institutions that encourage people to co operate with complete strangers. So i'm more likely to trust my neighbor if i know that if i had a problem with my neighbor, i could call the police, and the police can intervene.
